Humans Evolving Podcast

I had the honor to be interviewed by Jennifer Marcaccini on her podcast, "Humans Evolving,” a platform and community for people celebrating a shared passion for creativity and growth

She began by asking me, "What is 'Divine ink'?" and it all flowed from there ... how I discovered it, the original inspiration for my women's writing circles, the new "Divine Ink Writing Circle Facilitator's Training" course, and why I too believe "for patriarchy to change, there has to be a millionth circle” (in the inspiring words of author and visionary, Jean Shinoda Bolen.)

“The Wisdom of Mermaid Dreams on Women In-Depth

“Mythology and storytelling are age-old methods of passing along wisdom, sharing experience, and explaining or teaching about life.”

I gained so much insight from Dr. Lourdes Viado, Ph.D., MFT, during this conversation on her program, “WOMEN IN-DEPTH: CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE INNER LIVES OF WOMEN,” and was astonished by the depth and perception of her lens.

The Three Sunflowers Blooms Again for Ukranian Children

Initially inspired by a desire to bring comfort and help children make sense out of the world “in the wake of 9/11, the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, Hurricane Katrina, and the La Conchita mudslides,” writer Janet Lucy and her team at the nonprofit Seven Seas Press have recently turned their award-winning book The Three Sunflowers into a bilingual Ukrainian-English edition dedicated to the children of Ukraine.

Spotlight On New Work from Santa Barbara County Writers

The moving tale of a little green sea turtle’s quest for identity and purpose — and a life threatening encounter with a plastic bag he mistakes for a jellyfish — come to life in Santa Barbara writer Janet Lucy’s new children’s book, Makana is a Gift/Makana es un Regalo. With colorful watercolor illustrations by artist Alexis Cantu, this undersea tale connects young children to the ocean world and educates them about the perils of plastic pollution.

 Television Interview on “Literary Gumbo”

I was honored to be interviewed by Marcia Meier on Santa Barbara’s Literary Gumbo, and grateful for the opportunity to talk about how I became a writer, an “accidental author,” and the inspiration for my first books.

Makana is a Gift Event at SBMM

Continuing its book launch series and to kick off the international month-long challenge of “Plastic Free July,” the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) is pleased to host a book signing and reading for Makana is a Gift, a new children’s book, written by local award-winning author Janet Lucy and illustrated by Mexican watercolor artist Alexis Cantu.

Book Signing for Moon Mother, Moon Daughter

Local authors Janet Lucy and Terri Allison first heard the call to write a book together 25 years ago when their four daughters were queuing up to come of age. They had both read the bestseller, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls by Mary Pipher, about the frightening ways pre-teen girls lose their voices and their true selves in our culture, and began to ask themselves some questions.
