Calling, Calling
Calling, calling, women rising
in circles, offering mirrors and reminders —
I see you, I know you are powerful, too.
We can no longer afford to be afraid,
to hide, to be invisible or silent
the consequences long expired,
as they thought we did, too —
We’ve come back, rising from the underground,
potent seeds, planted once, stir again,
crack open, send down stronger roots —
that’s the value of germination.
We’ve become more potent
in our dark dream beds, where
we’ve been reading by starlight—
the signs, the times, the openings,
sending signals up to each other:
I’m down here, and I know you are, too;
didn’t we make a pact, agree, to come back
do it differently, fearlessly, because we know,
our souls, our spirits, are eternally alive?
So let’s rise, now, reach out, touch fingertips
until we fully grasp hands—
I’ve got you, and you, and you,
we’ve come full circle.
A sea of faces appears on a zoom screen,
women of all colors, answering the call
to support one who is all of us, a melting pot—
did they not get it, the magic in the cauldron?
And we’ve been stirring it for millennia,
migrating, across borders, across cultures,
adding magnificent colors to the mix.
And we know, when
a woman’s heart is on fire, when
she’s found the courage to re-ignite
her own spirit, she’s igniting ours too!
We circle around her and we chant
“We will help lift you up,” because we see you,
and you are me, and I am you, and we’re so grateful
you are taking the lead, that your seed,
your soul star, is rooted and rising, right now!
It’s full circle, isn’t it?
You were always the source
of peace, of love, of light —
Oh, Goddess, in all your guises
with you, we rise.
